Post by jrcook320 »

Now that my turbo setup is all done I had time to detail the car so I decided to get some updated photos.

Your car looks great. I'm impressed with the engine bay. Although I don't like the side exhaust.

Thanks. The side exit exhaust is just a temporary setup to get the car on the road. It took 2 hours to fabricate instead of 2 days. I plan on rerouting the exhaust to the rear, splitting to duals al 323i style and exiting through 2.5" stainless tips.

Interior consists of an autopower roll cage, ignition and acc switches on the center console with push button start, and a 140 mph E12 530i speedo (with hand painted 5 mph lines). The rear seat is carpeted with some stuff I had lying around and doesn't match yet, I'll redo that when I get a few color samples back from an upholstery shop.

Agree with everything said.

Such a nice, well looked after tastefully modified E21. Only thing I'd do is delete the 320i badge. But that's just me.

The paint is Diamond Black Metallic, it's a late 80's bmw color.

Here's the specs on the motor:

2.0L stroker with stock cast flat top pistons, 8:1 CR
TEP lightened flywheel
I-J crank scraper
Ported & polished head, 280 cam (a little big, will go with a turbo grind next season)
65mm E12 throttle body
stock clutch for now (won't hold much longer)

Turbo setup:
Dinan turbo manifold
Garrett T25, 60 trim .80 AR, internal gate (from a S13 nissan silvia)
ebay 12" front mount intercooler
Hallman pro manual boost controller
DSM (eagle talon) blow off valve
divorced port stainless dump pipe
2.5" straight through exaust with side exit

Fuel system:
Volvo 240 turbo fuel distributor
Volvo 240t boost enrich WUR
Volvo 240t boost retard ignition canister
Porsche 931 air flow meter
VW MK1 stainless fuel lines

The car runs with my buddy's low 13 second Camaro after 2nd gear, before that I'm spinning tires. We're guessing it runs a mid to high 13 in the quarter mile but I haven't had time to run it on the strip yet. If my calculations are correct, (and they have been up to this point), the car should be putting down between 200 - 220 hp at the flywheel.
