e21 rear seat belts
Hi,
I would like to install rear seat belts into my post facelift e21. Could anyone recommend a supplier to provide a suitable set. I have a heritage certificate and so I would like to keep in all as original looking as I possibly can (I understand that some e21s came with rear belts fitted directly from the factory and so an installation that look just like these would be great (I have a black cloth interior by the way)).
Also I assume that rear belts would be a reasonably easy install for a basic DIY person such as myself? Bolting and drilling is ok but I can't weld !
Thanks in advance

Re: e21 rear seat belts
I acn hardly imagine that any post facelift E21 left the factory without rear seat belts! I'd start by removing the rear seat, you should either find parts of the seat belts or connection points. Some pics from Koos 'uwbuurman' restoration so you can see how things are supposed to be fitted.

Thanks. Let me remove the rear seats and see what I find - might be a few days before I reply as I have a bit of house repair work to do first !!
Re: e21 rear seat belts
I'm sure I have a spare set somewhere of you are interested?

Re: e21 rear seat belts
I have removed the rear seat base but the back seat rest is proving more elusive. According to the manual (link below) that I have just need to unscrew and lift up.

The bottom lifts up fine but the top seems to be catching on something. Any ideas or shall I just give it some more brute force...?

Below the top, or the back part, are two bolts. Get those out. Then slide the whole thing like 1.5 inch upwards. As you see on the first photo Jeroen posted there are hooks that hold the backrest.

Re: e21 rear seat belts
Good news - I was able to take the seat out and found:
1) holes drilled for the upper seat belt assembly just below the parcel shelf (from picture 1 above)
2) holes drilled for the lower seat belt assembly (last picture above)
On the 'c' pillar itself (the part visible inside the car in white in picture 1) there doesn't seem to be any holes. Does anyone know how to attach this part to the car?
Thanks

Pretty sure the hole is there behind the vinyl and foam, you should be able to feel it.

Thanks. Yes I just had a poke around and I could feel the hole in the foam leading to a thread. Looks like we are all good !
Thanks again guys.

Re: e21 rear seat belts
e21Keith - I sent you a PM / email - hopefully has come through ok. Cheers
Re: e21 rear seat belts
Hi,
I've sent you a PM but it's stuck with two other messages in my outbox, including the one I've sent to Jeroen asking for help.
Can you send me another PM with your email and I'll send you some photos?
