Hi
It's my first post and hoping somebody can help me.
I'm in the process of putting my 1982 316 back together following a respray. The renovation has been ongoing for a couple of years but now proper progress is being made.
I took the 2 fuel tanks off at the start, refurbished inside and out covered them up and left them, and now, of course, I cant remember exactly how they came out. There are 2 holes at the front of each tank which match the mounts on the body and a small horseshoe shaped tag on the back of each tank. There is a bracket with a slot on the body which this might slip into, but doesn't seem right to me. Also, is there any heat shield protection other than the silver material stuck to the tanks themselves?
I can't remember if I took one off, and although there seem to be some fixings on the body I cant find anything in my shed!
Hopefully somebody can help?
Thanks in advance.

Hi. Welcome. Looking forward to a proper introduction, with more details and pics of that 316 and yourselve.
Take a look in my E21 restaurationtopic. Answers about all of your questions. But there are no shield, but the sticky one on the tanks. The piece in between shields the connection hose.
The topic of BB-Carworks is also helpful.

Welcome, and Uwbuurman is right, only a protective shield around the connection hose.
