New member, new 323i project -Some new pics-

Post by Niki »

Hi there!

I've been looking around on this forum for a while now, but since i'm getting really close to my driverslicense, i thought i'd register. The main reason ofcourse, is my 323i! It had some modifications, some of which i'm not so sure i like...like the whole front. Well see for yourself!

Hmm, just received some bad news today. My injection appears to be broken! This car used to be my uncle's, but it hasn't been driven for quite some years now.

Hi niki,

Welcome to the forum, You got a nice 323i there, could be a great car after some tlc :). new grills are still available almost everywhere. I beleive the headlights are so too, but a bit expensive. Maybe you can get a second hand set of marktplaats.nl or something. they still come up on very regular base.

You got some more pics ont interior, trunk and engine bay?

Good luck on the injection

There is something wrong with your left door
The mirror, hmmm, can't see it that good. Seems to be an older/fase 1 door.

Yup it's an older door! Once the new mirrors came out, my uncle replaced it, but he didn't remove the pins. At least, that's what i've heard! Still have to work on that...and a lot of other things :P
By the way, Dennis, what does tlc mean? I'm going to work on it Friday and i'll bring my camera! :D

I believe the car is phase 1 (look at the dashboard and the rear lights), while the doors/mirrors are phase 2. The RDW database shows it's from april 1979.

You should replace those plastic mirrors by the original chrome mirrors, way better ;) And by the way, that's a Zender front spoiler and rear apron. Looks great when painted.

Seems like a nice project to me.

Hmm, I think I'll take a chance by painting the front spoiler and mirrors in the same color as the rest of the car! By the way, does anyone know where they paint rims in the area of Rotterdam? Or can it be done by myself? Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Tender Love & Care :)

There is a rimms doctor, i beleive in Den Bosch, velgendokter.nl is the website, buti dont remember anymore. They can make your wheels good as new again. You can do it yourself by doing a good clean, and sanding of the bit coroded areas. With my own rimms i used a rimmspray and then a blank spray. Result good enoughfor me :)

There are a lot of bad stories about Velgendokter. I don't know if they're true, but the fact that those stories even exist would be enough for me not to let them handle my rims. I don't know if there are any in Rotterdam, but I had my rims refurbished by Piet Dam. See the results here (pics are not that good though), or look up Ronaldo's car (also done by Piet Dam). They are located in Maasdam in the Hoeksche Waard, not too far away from Rotterdam.

The car is a phase 1 which should have old stile mirrors. At home we had a 320 from May 1979 that had all the caracteristics of the 1th model, and was unrestored and unmolested  (wish my father had not parted with it...)

And so the name Piet Dam comes up again  .
If you people only knew what past this man has... god, I'm getting old and wish that this man lived a bit more near my place.

But Niki: a lot of work to put right but 86.000 km and as Dennis said a little TLC and this car would be a minter (have we met in Lelystad, BTW?)

Correct, Piet Dam is an old man these days, but he's good and cheap. Jeroen also did some things (for his car Jimi) with him. uhhh, you know what I mean :D

Hmm thanks for the advice fella's! I think I'm just going to take Dennis' advice and try to spray the rims myself. If it looks reeaaally bad, I'll pay Piet Dam a visit! By the way, today i got the car up and running! Just cleaned the injection and took it for a small spin. I didn't take any pictures though...I had it parked under a tree for a week and the birds seemed to like it too  By the way, does everybody have positive experience with walloth&nesch? I still don't like the 'payment in advance' thing.

Oh yeah Nils, I think you've confused me with someone else! I've never been there before :D I'm not the guy on the first picture by the way.
