My 323i Baur

Post by Robert »

Hello guys,

I'm new to this forum, so I thought I'd introduce one of my E21's.
I found this about a month and a half ago. I saw the condition of the car, and bought it right away.

Safaribeige 323i Baur from 1980
  • Automatic gearbox
  • Sport steering wheel
  • Cool yellow headlights

From this afternoon, with new indicators:

It has a trunk mounted brake light, which definitely has to go. There is also a Motorsport emblem on the back, but there is a hole behind that, so I can't remove it right away (I removed the emblem on the photo's ;)). Furthermore it has the pre-facelict front valence, so I have to change that as well. Better pics will follow as the weather gets nicer ;)

Hi Robert,

It's not fair..... I used to think that my Alpina replica was enough E21 for me, but I'm really starting to get a soft spot for the Baur! I'm starting to beleive that my life won't be complete before a clean 323i Baur is parked next to my Alpina replica!!

I'm not totally sure that I agree with you on the yellow headlights, but this is of course all a matter of taste...
One thing is for sure though - you certainly can't argue about the condition of your Baur. It's just Bang On!!! Absolutely perfect!! - and i don't think I've ever seen a Baur in beige...

Take good care of her mate...

You only live once, so why don't you just buy one? ;)

I absolutely love the yellow lights; you don't see many cars with them and they give the car a special look, in my opinion.
I will try to make a few pics of the underside of the car, it's just as clean as the rest.

HeHe... Well, in many ways your right! But I've already got 3 old BMW's - if I buy a fourth, either the MD of my bank or my girlfriend will murder me... :? Only depends on which one of them gets to me first!

That is a nice one Robert! The yellow lights are cool too; I've never seen them on an e21 in Australia, so they would look very unique!

You ought to buy a Baur Anders; and if youre having finacial problems with your other Bimmers, I can take the '02 off your hands if you like - free to a good home eh!?....I'm sure you'll be hanging on to the B6

Cheers
Mathew

Robert,

It is such a beautiful clean car!

BTW did U check the cars' VIN # (with regard to the early type front)?

One thing you just have to change... get rid of that ugly oil sender on the dipstick and put it elsewhere. It's oil temp I presume?

Yes I did, it's from March 1980, so I guess someone made a mistake by mounting the wrong front.
I guess the sender is for checking oil temp, I haven't looked in to it yet. I'll remove it someday ;)

The top is brown, so that looks even better with the beige. It's definitely fun to drive, and I love the automatic gearbox.
