My 1982 320i (Finally!)

Post by Heretic »

Hey all, new to the Forum, new to BMW's. Luckily I'm not new to Bosch, or CIS, been driving VW's and Audi's for along time, one of each sleeping in the garage right now.

I've been chasing my old man to sell me this car since about 1999, or 2000. Well Just this Saturday out of the blue he says "If you still want the BMW, it's yours, come and get it" I was quick to agree to that one!

Ok so it's not low km by any means, it has over 430,000km on the odometer (267,000 miles) Still runs great though, but the motor has been freshened up once, and then again after that the cylinder head was rebuilt. Just recently it's had the head gasket done and the clutch (although I suspect the gasket wasn't done right when the head was done). It's actually surprising solid, and tight for the miles on it. I've loved it since the first day I drive it years ago.

The Jetta in the one picture is mine, but now it sports a Tuned G60 Motor (supercharged 1.8 ) and looks like this.

I have no big plans for the E21 yet, I want to go over it and fix the little stuff, get everything up to par. Fit a modern stereo. I'd like to find away to get rid of those nasty bumper spacers and push them in closer to the body to give it a more proper look. Styling wise I feel it's beautiful the way it is (shelf bumpers excluded), but if I did anything maybe something old school Euro like deep dish rims, and a lower stance. I am however curious, for information sakes, if the M20B25 from the E30 will fit in the M42's transmission.
