Just keep in mind before you run me through the meat grinder, that the e21 is my favorite body style, and I'm a real fan of that car. and Supersprint spent quite some time to find all these jigs, because of my request.
And yes all Supersprint product is mandrel bent. We dont even have a conventional tubing bender at the factory.
The only savings, I could see happening is to cut the freight cost to the US and ship directly to the UK, if that is where you are located? So figure at best about 10% difference.
As far as your custom exhaust systems, that you're speaking of, I have no idea what they look like? And not everyone has the luxury of good fabricator near by. If these are all custom systems for one car, then jigs were not built to duplicate the systems.
My offering was to reproduce some product we had in our program 20 years ago. And give the forum members a chance to buy a quality system for their restored 323i e21 models.
I have a question? What is a bespoke system? I'm also not sure what is a 6 branch middle box?
6 Branch is (headers) in your language middlebox is middle box as opposed to the 2 back boxes.
I personally think the exhaust stuff is gonna be a waste of time for us euro guys cos for that price + the HM taxes for import, just aint worth it at all when we can get the exhaust done for a fraction of the price... ive said what i thinbk without disrespect so am sure others on this forum has their ideas.......
Thanks for the claification. I would like to see some of the components that you're getting for these lower prices. And are these systems all custom built (leave your car for a week) systems, or do the builders have jigs so that someone could call and order a second system, or a replacement component.
They have all the gear to pattern copy to their pipes and boxes, its a matter of a few hours and your driving back with a full stainless with a smile on yer mug all the way to your drum!
+1 i love my exhaust
police followed me into my court today because i gave it a bit of a rev when i turned in. they ran a check then checked my tyres and started poking about
lookin at my quad exit exhausts ha ha thought they wer guna get me 2 start it then i probably woulda bin getin fined.

to be fair on fritz they store loads and loads of old stock, they are expensive on new stuff because they have to make there money. try buying an exzhaust from bmw at that price. be double atleast.
plus fritz can rolling road your car while there and show you the increase in power you get from there system. and its got a better guarentee aswell. all made on jigs and it keeps the standard look.
Well the pricing is actually built at a reduced price to try to re-open interest in the restoration market. For the last 10 years there have been fewer and fewer manufacturers building product for the older cars, due to lack of interest and a continual reduction in car numbers. We have done very well in the porsche market for classic cars, and also the BMW 2002. I believe the interest is there. I know that if I were currently restoring an e21, and I have owned several, I would look for correct period dated products. Although I can do all the fabricating myself. I would want the car to have that original sound and feel. With possibly an upgrade in performance. Too much noise would not work for me.
I've built several e21 with 3.0 to 3.5 m30 conversions. back at a time where you could buy the parts from Alpina. My last e21 project was a mild restore of an e21 320i m10.
I think a very interesting project would be the S14 M3 4cyl. engine into the e21. Weight and balance would be perfect, and power would be impressive.

sod the s14 its too much money
go for an m42 and create a manifold to run throttle bodies
run solid lifters and you near enough have a modern s14 for a fraction of the price and there ar a lot more available. the engine can be stroked i believe using freelander cranks etc so it all works out a lot cheaper than the infamous m prices
I have, an M42, and a 2.3 liter stroker kit, with solid lifter kit. I would need to rebuild and assemble the engine. This was my second choice. For sure cheaper. I would want to find a clean e21 80-83 body.
I'm going to run an m50 so will be having the exhaust custom made. you mayhave a point about original look and feel. I'm of the opinion that a stock e21 handles and stops like a bag of shit. theres no way id get my car back to standard setup!
The e21 does like to push. I remember every m30 conversion we did, put a smiles on the customers face in the straight line, but quickly turned to a look of horror at the first set of turns. Even a stock m20 is nose heavy. transplanting a m42 (which are cheap) would make a really great combination. But I think the m42 does need to be modified to get over the 200 HP mark.
