rear brakes- e21
i need a lot of help on this one guys. i am almost done with the disc brake swap and i did it all on the fly, no manuals or such. but now i have hit a snag. the e-brake cables. how do i remove the cable from the brake to replace them? the shop manual i have is only for the stateside 320's and none of them had disc's out back. did a google search and all the sites that came up are no longer available
Re: rear brakes- e21
I'm afraid i cant help you mate, but would be intrested in hearing how you converted over to discs, as i will have to haul in a 2.5i soon and i think drums just wont cut it.

I don't understand, you need to remove the cable from the 320 drum or 323i drum-discs? In both you need to remove disc/brake and just detach the cable. After removing the drum/disc everything will be easy like LEGO.tyson 320i/323i wrote:i need a lot of help on this one guys. i am almost done with the disc brake swap and i did it all on the fly, no manuals or such. but now i have hit a snag. the e-brake cables. how do i remove the cable from the brake to replace them?

take the shoes off. threes a springon each shoe holding it on. the cable then becomes free. you need 323i specific cables.

ok- i got the 323 specific cables. check
took off the rear discs. check
cant seem to figure out how to get the new cables on there
millar- i did the swap by putting a euro rear end on my us spec 320. mostly easy, just this one little snag

Re: rear brakes- e21
yep- pretty much. they are all the same except for the disc/ drum thing. the only issue i had with the rear end that i have is the person who took out the one i have did most of it nicely but i think they used a chainsaw to cut the brake cables
Re: rear brakes- e21
haha nice. i'll need to be on a lookout for one of them then, when i have money that is

Grab an e30 manual or e34/e28 as the method is the same
