rear brakes- e21

Post by tyson 320i/323i »

i need a lot of help on this one guys. i am almost done with the disc brake swap and i did it all on the fly, no manuals or such. but now i have hit a snag. the e-brake cables. how do i remove the cable from the brake to replace them? the shop manual i have is only for the stateside 320's and none of them had disc's out back. did a google search and all the sites that came up are no longer available

I'm afraid i cant help you mate, but would be intrested in hearing how you converted over to discs, as i will have to haul in a 2.5i soon and i think drums just wont cut it.

I don't understand, you need to remove the cable from the 320 drum or 323i drum-discs? In both you need to remove disc/brake and just detach the cable. After removing the drum/disc everything will be easy like LEGO.

Put some pics and I will, try to help you, I did an overhaul of rear brake in 323i.

take the shoes off. threes a springon each shoe holding it on. the cable then becomes free. you need 323i specific cables.

yep- pretty much. they are all the same except for the disc/ drum thing. the only issue i had with the rear end that i have is the person who took out the one i have did most of it nicely but i think they used a chainsaw to cut the brake cables

Grab an e30 manual or e34/e28 as the method is the same
