Black 1984 E21 316

Post by Zahid »

Hello All,

Im new to this forum so thought i'd introduce myself by posting sme pics of my E21 316. I've only had it for 3 years and have been very happy with it. However if anyone could explain why it has M Power coloured go fast stripes (which look factory fitted), i'd be grateful to know!

Enjoy the pics!

Zahid

Beautiful!

These M-stripes (one of at least 3 different versions) were available as an option. My parents used to have a 316 just like yours.... many years ago!

Did a small edit to your posts' links btw

Coool. Never seen those stripes. Did you buy your ///M badge from eBay? I bought one from eBay and when it arrived I found that it was made of plastic  So I'm looking for somewhere to get an original.
Nice car.

Very nice! The stripes really compliment the black!

Beautiful car! A rare 316 too with the double headlights. I think they also had a M-stripe scheme that went diagonally across one corner of the bonnet. I've seen 2 examples of these in Australia. Nice wheels too, BTW

Enjoy!

Hello All,

Thanks for your comments on the 316, on the back of your compliments I've included some more pics to the link!

Thanks also for explaining about the M Stripe.

Hadrian, the badge at the rear (theres also one for the front grill that I misplaced whilst cleaning) came with the car and guess they were put on by a previous owner to match the stripes

Unfortunately, to fund an E30 project the E21 might have to go-very difficult to part with it so if anyone knows of an enthusiast who may be interested, it will soften the blow! (i'll put a post up on the For Sale section soon too)

(ps Thanks for editing my earlier post Jeroen!)

UR welcome!

But if you are selling it, you're definitely going to regret it hahaha!

If you compose a FS ad... pls make sure to add a picture link, as much details as possible, and a location. A pity you're not on the other side of the North Sea

Looks stunning Zahid!! Black is such a nice colour for the E21...

It's clearly been loaded with original Motorsport goodies - probably done in period. You've got the BBS frontspoiler (often used by BMW), the Foha rearspoiler (always used by BMW), the Motorsport stripes, the BBS Motorsport alloys, twin headlamps and the 3 spoke leather steering wheel. Those are some really cool options - especially for a 316 which were very often delivered very stock...

Hmmm.... to me this looks like a 'keeper' Zahid....

Anders, thank you very much for your kind words on the 316 and your analysis on the extras. The steering wheel was actually different when I bought it, the one it came with looked like a fake version of the one I currently have but later found out it was an original - pity I sold it! I never knew about the rear spoiler being a Foha one - thanks again!

I'm not happy about selling it but as I garage it in the winter and occassionaly drive it in the summer, I'm sure someone would put it to better use! I'm starting to feel a sense of guilt for suggesting selling! - "luckily" I have some work I must get done on the 316 so that should buy me some breathing space to be totally sure I want to sell!

Jeroen, if the E21 maestro were to be interested, I'd seriously have to consider driving across to the Netherlands!
