Post by Reck »

I really need help getting this right as my MOT depends on it, any advice willl be much appreciated. My mechanic gave me this list;

4 Bushes Rear Lower Arms

I take it he means part no. 33329061945?

no. 3 on this diagram

Why do the OEM bushes and the superflex ones look so different??

2 Centre Bushes for Front Stabiliser

I take it he means part no. 31351126577 ?

no. 2 on this diagram

I measured the diameter of the bar (1981 316 1.8 RHD) and I *think* it's 23.5mm

Bushes for the rear trailing arms aren't that different but the tubes are shown separate on the superflex pic, these are inside the oem ones as well.

Bushes for the front arb, if he says center I guess he means those, the other ones are those in the front trailing arms as per your 3rd post, seems like the correct P/N as well. ARB diameter of the front arb should be 23,5mm indeed.

I'd consider replacing the front arb rings on each side of the control arm as well, originalle they have rubber on them and it is likely that rubber is gone now. The rubber helps close in the control arm more to prevent shimmy. I even went one step further and added the old rings to the new ones to close in the control arm even more for sharper steering, goes well without any clunks or side effects. Pic:

Cool, thanks for the advice Jeroen. Do you have a part number for those rubber rings?

The rubber is melted onto the no 8 front arb ring I believe. Two new ones of those and you can use the old ones together with those new ones. I made the holes slightly wider to move them up the arb bushing tube (right on my pic).

Well now I'm thinking of it I'm not sure which one has the rubber on it, perhaps better order two of each (#7+8)...

I will. The ride has gotten pretty terriblein recent weeks.. Wheel shimmy, pulling to the left when braking, horrible crashing and squeaking over bumps. Not very comfortable at all!

Hiya, not sure if you need any bushes for the rear antirollbar. I ordered some poly and they didn't fit! If you need em let me know and if they fit, just pay me what you feel like :)

Hi buddy, thanks for the offer! I've been meaning to stick my head under all week but I don't think I've got a rear ARB since it's a 316?
