thinking of a nice satin black to all the e21 chrome work :goodnight ......whats your thoughts guys?

Your car of course. However I'd say no. Colour coded bumpers can look ok IMHO as on jeremys m3 engined e21

shadow chrome works but on a car with dark paint imo.

if your chome is shagged then id go for it

does suit darker colours and hides shite chrome just make sure you sand everything
alot or it will peel off.

Thanks for the advice guys...it is an ascot grey car....chrome is not in the very best of nick....the chrome i suppose is a trademark of the e21....i think i have 2 options.....purchase new chrome work...or prep exisiting and satin or chrome black.

Hi Kevin, i think that the most famous de chromed e21 is the ascot grey car here & i think i looks the nuts so go for it mate (but without the dtm mirrors)Image....

alright ayds....since i got it off jimi....it aint been out of the garage....such a shame...started her up at the weekend....the noise out the back is just mad.......i also had that pic in mind for it.....i will be getting it painted in the future so the black thing is on the cards.

I'd say that was a sad state of affairs Mark, except I've whipped my phone out at train stations in the past, just so I don't miss any of the goings on in the forum :screwy

In my defence, it was pouring with rain but I needed an e21 fix anyway, as I'm here in an e30.

I think de chroming on a light coloured cars look good, gives it a better contrast between panels and glass, looks different too.

I de-chromed the bumpers, originallybecause the chrome was stuffed, but i quiet like it now its done! I lightly sanded them with a 60 grit flap disc on a grinder to take the chrome down, then prepped them with etch primer to help paint adhesion. ive since blacked the side trim on the waistline , but i havent painted them just used black trim strip from halfords. Im going to leave the window surrounds I think.......
