we had real troubles on this issue

resolved with a thermostat and most imporatntly guage and sender unit from an m535i- as well as a Racing Stant Rad cap rated 22 psi

now all's cool and toasty when required!

we are rapidly reaching the limits of my tech knowledge here- which admittedly is not very high for BMWs!

but we did have major issues with thermostats and senders and Guages not functioning correctly - all of which seem to be very sensitive to correct matching

I can get Steve to post the part nos and details if required- Herman has plenty of heating now and doesnt overheat if anything the electric fan cuts in too soon as far as the guage reads lower part of warm and doesn't get hotter ( in admittedly cold temp non stress environment etc)- took him out this evening to collect children since it was dry.
