mbuus has a new e21 323i

Post by mbuus »

Hey everyone, it's been quite a while since I'v been on the forums, but when I decide to hop on it's because I have purchased another e21.

It's an 1982 323i Manual Alpine White and an alpina spoiler. That is all. Here are a few pics.

Just picked it up so more pictures will follow. There are only 3 small surface rust spots and the handbrake cable has snapped, that's all that is wrong with the car. I picked it up for an absolute bargain!

Have you got any big ones?

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or genuinely asking. If you click on the pictures and zoom they are massive.

Thanks Jeroen, all sorts of rubbish has kept me from posting here.

So the engine was running a bit rough and sounded like it had dropped a cylinder this morning. Decided to give her a compression test and BAM cylinder 3 is pushing out a low 50 psi. So the question is what engine shall I deposit into this car now? It will be hard to find another 2.3 e21 engine, getting hard to find e30 2.3/2.5 for a decent price and very hard to source a cheap m50/52.

I'd pull the head first before starting the search for another engine, quite a chance the problem is limited to a head gasket, cracked head, valve bent or burnt or something of that sort. Car is good enough to be kept original engine wise (this or another E21 323i engine) but otherwise, I'd take my time to locate something like M20B25, M50B25 or if you're lucky a M52B28

Yeah I had a few friends tell me to do the same. There is a reconditioned head for sale on eBay right now in my side of the city, what are the chances of that!

So my plans for the weekend are to pull the head off and examine the damage. If the block looks good then I will just purchase a head, if not I really would like to get my hands on a non vanos m50b25, that would be silky smooth. Either way will post some pics.

Also thanks arshad76 didn't realise my avatar was such a hit :D
