Post by tom bailey »

I am new to the forum and have just placed a wanted ad up on here, I was wondering if it is possable to convert the 21 from a automatic to manual easily? I know another pedal would need to be added and other bits buts has it been done before? just curious so I can be more open minded on cars I get offered .Any help appreciated:)

You need a clutch pedal and cylinder, the gearbox/clutch, flywheel, linkage/lever, bit of wiring under the dash where there's a start inhibitor relay to bypass, reservoir hose and some sort of bracket to fit the reservoir to. Done it on my Baur, not too hard.

I certainly hope it's possible I've just this weekend gone had the engine and auto box out of mine to convert to manual..

Take a look at this for a little insight. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh ... p?t=949479

It may take me a couple of weekends but mainly it's just time consuming and dirty...

Still it's clean up time, sort a couple of rusty patches, then start put it back together as a manual. Looking forward to the test drive...

Hope this helps...
