Fast!!!, only managed 20yrds before leaving black lines :launch

Emerald's words were Savage & Brutal for a NA engine :crazy
Needed buckets on cement and two bodies to get traction on the Rollers for mapping higher power runs.

First proper drive just done, :shock its fast!!!!!

Also soooo noisy with the induction barking and the drivetrain whining like a race car (solid mountings for you
). No idea what the exhaust note is like cos you can't hear it :whistle

No video's yet, I was on my own all weekend, fettling other bits of the car.
Tried to place my phone on the wall and video the car, came out crap. :bag

These are the power charts from Emerald's RR for my old 2.7 and 2.5 M20's compared to the new S54:
Image

Bear in mind Emerald's RR is very accurate and doesn't overestimate as much as some others (Evolve charted the 2.7 as +6% on these figures).
Best to just look at the increases from the other runs.

Was hoping to get to the Ace Cafe tonight, but the weather is looking a bit Sh*te :hammer
I'm scaring myself in the dry, let alone in the wet with a welded diff. :screwy

The noise from the intake is emmense :thumbsup

Just for comparison:

This shows my cars chart against a very quick (apparently sprint champion?) M Coupe S50B32 EVO with Schrick Race cams, Vanos delete, ARP bolts, intake & exhaust etc.

RR within 2 days of mine. Shows how much torque you gain in the middle from keeping the Vanos :thumbsup

Well, as the gearbox decided to get very noisy whilst driving to Kent last week, some more development work is required.

So Yesterday I started stripping the engine & box out of my fathers old E36 328i touring. Wasn't great fun working on the grass (well it was grass before the car was parked there 3 years ago, now hard mud with ant wood lice and all sorts).
As all the front panels/rad etc were already removed I decided to remove the front subframe with suspension engine & gearbox as one.
Then drag it out the front. Kept under a tarp for now till I get down there to work on it again.
The M52B28 will be for sale shortly if anyone is interested, 175k ish miles with a new Alusil block from BMW at ~85k so only 90k on the bottom end. Will come with all the wiring loom, ECU and EWS kit etc.

The gearbox in the 328i is the ZF unit which was also found in the E36 3.0 M3 so should be strong enough this time.
It will require a fabricated rear mounting and modifications to the gear linkage for the change of angle.
Hopefully the tunnel will not require work otherwise I'll have to get the Irish Screwdriver out again.

I've got hold of an E9 LSD which is being refurb'd with 40% lockup and new plates.

Also I have ordered my new bigger brakes for the front. I'm planning on fitting Wilwood superlite 4 piston calipers in place of the Powerlite's I currently have. The pads have a much larger area so will enable better heat management for racing. I'm also going to replace the rear calipers with some from an E30 to enable a better pad size and selection. I'm actually going for EBC Yellows front and rear as my experience of them has been good in the past.
My old Powerlite setup will be available with a new set of EBC yellow pads and brackets (although Mark has first dibs on these for his new project).

Cheers
