323i K&N Filter

I'm considering instaling K&N filter in my 323i. Does anyone uses such thing in his 323i? As far as I recall Jeroen was using it in his green 323i.
I'm thinking of standard cartrigde K&N filter not the cone filter.

What are your thoughts about it?

The OE paper one works better.

My experience was a feel of a slightly improved midrange torque using a K&N panel, but these filters let way too much dustr through. Knowing your car, stick to stock! I'm pretty sure it will add 2 kmh top speed max.

I was hoping for engine sound improvement but now I'll just stick to stock filter.

No significant difference in sound. For that you may want to considering having an air filter housing made out of carbon fibre perhaps. That should do something...

I don't really want go this way, modern materials like carbonfiber just don't match E21. But thanks for the tip.

If you want some more induction noise just drill loads of holes in the bottom section of the air cleaner housing. It'll look stock from the top but it'll make more noise. Best of all it's free!

Just be aware the engine will such in more hot air from behind the radiator with a drilled box. Sound will be better but power will be down.
Unless you panel the engine bay to keep the airbox in its own cold fed enclosure.

The std filter will work just as well as the K&N panel but only whens its clean and fairly new. The std filter stops more particles than the K&N so blocks up quicker and this is the power drop most people observe. Changing a dirty oem filter with a K&N will see an increase in performance.

Thanks Ben.

Well, my father says "You can keep turning around but your as% is gonna be always in the back" and it's just the case. After all, stock intake system seems to be the best solution so I guess I'll just keep it that way.
