can i fit rear discs etc without having to change trailing arms?

Yes if you make your own adaptor brackets and fit calipers with an integral handbrake. Did it on the slug using A3/Golf calipers and standard E21 discs. Need suitable handbrake cables and of course flexi hoses/pipes made up to fit.

sorry wasnt clear

i can buy a 323 rear end with calipers etc but my current trailing arms have custom brackets welded on for my suspension so was hoping the rest couldd be fitted onto my current trailing arms

Trailing arms are the bit that's different. I think the tabs for the 323 arb are on the other subframe anyway.

You need to fit the suspension mounting bits on the 323i trailing arms, or as I say custom brakets/VAG calipers.
