Hi guys, ive got a 323i i am trying to get running after not being used for 10 years. The owner fitted a new external fuel pump and filter, i fitted a in tank pump and relay adn got fuel pressure up. the car starts and kinda runs but is overfueling badly. even with the kjet mixture screw full lean
it overfuels to the point it fouls the plugs, then misses, when u take out a missing spark plug it is just dripping wet.
I changed the injectors for the set off my old car which i new were good and it improved a bit.
Today i pulled the WUR off and cleaned it etc internally, reconnected but that hasnt done a thing. a test light reveals that the WUR has no power.
testing fuel pressure at the main inlet line to the fuel distributor unit shows around 75psi, this seems very high to me
Any help would be greatly appreciated
k jet 323i help please

Perhaps the piston inside the fuel dizzy is stuck? Don't open it up right away, wait for someone with more experience than I have with these babies to pop by. I know there are some attention points otherwise you'll end up with nothing but leaks. 75 psi is a normal pressure from the pump btw.

what you say could be true mate, because , when it is warm it does not like to reve either it just wants to stay at a certain rpm.
this car fell victim to an inexperienced owner who replaced the rubber hose joining both fuel tanks together with just a radiator hose. this radiator hose disintegrated after a while and sent black rubber sludge gunky stuff all through the fuel system.
i must find out how to take apart and clean the fuel unit i think

Re: k jet 323i help please
It does sounds like old dried up petrol has gummed up the plunger. Don't take the metering block to bits, but remove it from the air flow flap plate and see how freely it moves. it should push in with your finger quite easily, and fall back under its own weight. There's a spring behind it, but it's very weak.

When it gets stuck, fuel flow is only at one rate, so it'll likely be rich at idle, and lean at higher rpm, which sounds exactly like your issue

Re: k jet 323i help please
i took the metering unit apart today and as you guys suggested the piston was gummed up and stuck in the bore at the wide open throttle postition.
having sorted that out, the car runs significantly better, 5 cylinders are perfect, one is missing. so i have a new set of leads coming. and a distributor cap.
i am having a hose made so i can set up the warm up regulatr pressures etc. will keep you guys posted.
thanks
