E21 coilovers question.

Post by whyismye21broke »

I was just curious about GAZ coilovers. My E21 is stanced at the moment. Coilovers in the back. Cut springs in the front. When I put these GAZ coilovers on my car. Will they go low enough to keep my car at the height it is now. It sits very low. Basically what I'm asking is, will these coilovers be able to sit my car on the ground?

You can also ask Gaz to cut the thread further, which is what they did when rebuilding my LEDA.

Alright, here is the question I did not have asked before, but I should have. My English needs a boost every now and then. What is a coilover? Is it the whole "leg"? So shock and spring mounted together? Please educate me!

a coilover is basically when the spring goes around the shock absorber, when most people refer to a adjustable coilover it usually refers to the fact you can wind the spring seats down the shock to alter the ride height.
some cars have shocks which bolt to the hubs and can be changed to adjustable coilovers without having to change the hubs, others likr the e21 have the shock inside a tube which is welded to the hub so when fitting adjustable coilovers they need to have a thread machined onto the existing suspension leg so that you can fit a adjustable spring seat onto the original leg.
hope this helps
