Mechanical speedo cable 315

Post by boscha »

Hello guys, i need advice:

I have 1983 315 with 5 speed manual transmission.
Would like to know if speedo cable is the same for 4 speed and 5 sleed gearbox ?
Is there any difference i.e. does cable for 4 speed gearbox fits to 5 speed gearbox?

your speedo cable is in 2 parts, the upper part is shared, but according to Real OEM the lower part differs between 4 and 5 speed cars:

It fits.
Mine is from 4 cyl model on 6cyl :)

and yes, only difference is in length.
Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car. Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how far you take the wall with you.

Thanks Mihajlo.

You think 4speed cable will fits on my 5speed gearbox inspite it's a little bit shorter?

I believe 4cyl cable is too short to fit 6 cyl RHD model

LHD cars don't have that problem.

That may be the difference indeed. No issues with LHD but with RHD you have to move over to the other side of the gearbox!

BINGO!

it must be working on the LHD cars then, not so much on RHD ones. :)
