Rear Suspension Arm Bush Replacement
Rear Suspension Arm Bush Replacement
I have stripped down my rear suspension arms and having real trouble getting the new rubber bushes to fit.
I've tried using a threaded bolt, washers and various size sockets but can't get them to go all the way in, there is about 5mm that just wont go in. I'm using genuine Febi 04052 bushes which are listed for both e21 and e30.
I know poly bushes would probably be easier but I just don't want to go there.

Lots of vaseline, or else you'll destroy them. The both go from the outside in. So just pull them together with a length of treathed wire or how do you call that. You have to pull them a bit through, just to get the end out the other side.
This is me pushing the old ones out, but same way of working getting them in. Get them in in the same time.

OK. closer inspection has revealled a ring of corrosion inside the slieve. A quick clean-up and some rubber grease and the bushes are going in nicely.
Many thanks.

Nevermind, always a pleasure to help. God knows, you need some lubrication when putting rubbers in holes...

holes must be lubricated.
Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car. Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.

I usually prefer to use a natural lubricant but sometimes have to resort to synthetic depending on the circumstances!

I used fire to get the old ones out. All I did was get it really smoking hit and smash it with a chisel.

I used the same, lots of fire.
It's a right stinky messy job though but easy with enough heat
