My 323i Edition S (1982)

Post by Pascal323i »

Hi to all e21 enthusiasts,

sent you a couple of pics of my 1982 Edition S. I bought this car 4 years ago from the first owner. Has 341.000 km on the clock, body and painting look almost like new. After I bought the car a completely new engine was installed by the local BMW dealer, the interior was renewed with original anthrazit cloth. The car was equipped with an original Aircondition-system as well, which is quite rare in Germany. In contrast to the export Edition S cars, the german version was not delivered in 2-tone colour. You could choose (as the original brochure explains) between graphit or ascot grey.
My e21 still has all the typical Edition S goodies:

Recaro sports seats in Anthrazit, interior Anthrazit, three spoke leather sports steering wheel, 5.5x13” cross spoke BBS alloys in silver, BBS deep front spoiler, black trunklid spoiler (FOHA), sports suspension with gas pressure shocks (Bilstein), rear view mirrors in vehicle body paint,
5 Speed overdrive gearbox

Plans for the future:

Installing rear headrests

Installing power steering system

Green tinted glass including rear pop out windows

Installing head lights wipers

All parts are already in my possession, but haven´t got the time to install them, lately

and now enjoy.....

Thanx for your nice answers,

yes the car has 341000 kms on the clock. I got every document since new from the first owner. It never had an accident nor has it been resprayed. On every part is the original painting, no dents and almost no scratches, just at the front of the hood because of stones. The car really looks like less than 50.000 kms, believe me. It puts a smile on every enthusiasts` face :D

Unfortunately I don´t have newer pics of the interior, just forgot to take them :( , but I will try to send some soon, car is in a carport during wintertime. I drive it just from May till October, as you can see from my numberplates...

If you want to see more pics, just send my a reply...

@ Gönk

You are right, my car does not have the sunroof. And I must admit, I´m happy about it, because most of the sunroof e21s are badly rusted...

During the first 21 years the first owner really kept an eye on the car, every service (including oil changes) were done at a BMW-dealer. I have every bill. The car was driven 60 kms every day to his working place and back. Even the windscreen is the first one, with almost no scratches !!!
Almost every technical part was changed during the first ownership, tyres (every 40.000kms), timing belt (every 60.000 kms), headlights, the kidney, waterpump (3 times), cooling system, clutch ( 3 times), dampers and so on... All in all he spent almost 30.000 EUR on the car in 21 years !!!

When I bought the car the bodywork was perfect, but the interior was bleached out by the sun (non tinted glass) and the engine was almost broken (troubles with the 6th cylinder, needed 1 liter of oil every 100 kms !!!). After 327.856 kms, that´s o.k. I think. So the best decision was to install a brand new engine, cause I wanted t restore the e21 to a perfect condition. I also renewed the carpet, the complete rearbench and the dashboard, with all new ORIGINAL BMW parts. Only the front Recaros are in original state, they still look like new, just the colour is a little bit brighter compared to the rear bench, but no damages. But I have the original cloth in stock to renew them when I want to, at the moment not necessary...

By the way, the old man ( first owner was born born 1929) didn´t stop driving, he bought a Peugeot 206 (60 HP) :D

I´ll keep you updated

Hello friends,

yesterday was the 25th birthday of my Edition S (first registration on 3rd December 1982).

So here are, as promised, some more pics. They are a little bit older. I did not have the time to take some newer pics, especially of the interior, lately.
