Cheers for the nod Alpina.
Great to see its all working Murran, im chuffed you got it all sorted (mostly for my own selfish gains)
Im looking forward to doing it all myself soon but im probably far more melodramatic than you guys so expect loads of 'HELP!!!' messages.

Well done mate!

ps. I cant believe you got most parts for that cheap either, its costing me about 6 times that much.

was a fellow trampdrifter with an 89 320i 2 door and his cambelt broke. did have to drive 100 miles either way to pick them up tho.

i got the full loom, ecu, throttle body, idle valve, afm + airbox, inlet pipe, plug leads, cap + rotor, top cambelt cover, front engine lift bracket, all the coolant hoses, fuel pressure reg.

but other stuff like the coolant hose mount, inlet man., inj rail, crank sensor and bracket, cam pulley, front pulley, i had already, left over from the 325i swap in my 320i touring.

like i said, ill pop up the m1 give you a hand, your probably only half an hours drive from me.

little update for you..........

Image
batterys new house is finished! my partner in this tom (the bodywork side of the two of us) has constructed the box that weve bolted in bolted on an old bit of seatbelt from a child seat to hold it in......

oh, hes painted the boot lid too.......
Image
fusebox mods......
Image
Image
ive glue an inline fuse holder for the fuel pump to the fuse box. also glue gunned the three relays on the motronic loom to the side so theyre under the e21 fuse box cover making it nice and neat!

Image
live point under the bonnet. an exhaust mounting!! (much neater than having 4 wires on the starter terminal like ive seen in another thread recently)

battery cut out switch and cable mounted and fitted......
Image
Image

finished under bonnet pics.......
Image
Image

little worried about this coolant pipe........
Image
its very close to the exhaust manifold might do it differently some how i
dont know.

thats it for now.
:D

Maybe you can make the ''roast chicken in tin foil'' coolant pipe made up in copper pipe or similar? Good work anyway!

If you look at a 2002tii I think that pipe is metal and aoids heat issues that way?

couple of update pics........
made some heat shields.
Image
Image
keep that nasty hot air coming thru the rad away from the filter.

also the coolant pipe.......
Image
cant quite see it but the shield has sides around the manifold and bolts on the original shield mounds on the manifold.

also ive redone the center exit exhaust backbox mounts as i couldnt get any mounts that looked like theyd work.
set up i made before....
Image

so i went to halfords and bought some yellow polybush rubbers, got some steel rod from b+q bit of welding later...... much better!

couple of other pics...

yep it is a deceptorcon badge!

borrowed the trade plates and took it to work today...... f*** its fun to drive, exhaust sounds awesome!!! its defo faster than it was with the carb on it! it'll actually rev past 4500 (which it wouldnt before.)
ive tracked it up.... steering wheel is straight now. woohoo!
also fitted the correct spark plugs for an injected e30 320 and checked and adjusted emissions.
took a couple of people from work around the block in it. theyre all well impressed!!!
roll on tdsw, i cant wait!! 8)

Murran, from what ive gathered you`ve used the 325 injection setup on a 320 engine? more airflow there cos the throttlebody is larger and manni... what is 320on the fueling side? if you dont mind explaing what you did from what car to what car..... to get an idea..

cheers

everythings come from an '88 e30 320i 2 door.... or my '89 touring (bits left over from the 320i to 325i swap on it)
inlet manifold/throttle body are defo from a 320i. do have plans to fit a 325 throttle body and chip it tho.
was wondering about compression ratio differences between the e21 320/6 and the e30 320i engines and what sparkplugs to use? (heat range differences?)

Are you going to go the whole way and fit a 2.5? I love what you've done with the battery, does that not interfere with the tanks, or have you moved them as well?

Looks lovely in those photos and congrats on the conversion.

well it only has the o/s tank in it, so plenty of room for it.

theres a difference of opinion going on between me and my partner in this, tom. i think it has enough power as it is for what were doing with it (drifting).
if we feel we need more then everything is there now to drop a 2.5 (170 bhp) in it..... (more than enough power....)
tom wants to put an m30 in it next year, but thats alot of work for imo too much power........
