Thank you!!!

....and yes......the decision is not easy, wich way anyone to go in an restoring...... I think it is important, that you are convinced of ONE way....

There are many ways......and many ways will be good to go.....but at last the way YOU have to go

Markus is a good friend. In our restoring-work we talk almost every day about it......He began in August 2007 and contacted me before he was starting. He is going an other way (a little bit) but also perfect and very good!!! So it is...... :)

greetings Stephan :)

Your car is looking great, Stephan!

I don't know German, but your restoration pictures will be very helpful when I decide to restore my own Baur TC1.

Thanks,
Harry

Hello Harry :)

Thank you very much!

In your sign i see that you are owner of a lot of BMW......finaly a wunderfoul 2002.....great!!!

I'm member in the german BAU-TC-CLUB. Perhaps, when you need special information of Baur parts or soone in an restoring of your BAUR, contact me  ....

Do you have a picture of your BAUR and the BAUR-production number? An other member maintains a international BAUR-regsiter with all BAUR-TC wich found all over the world

Here is the link:

http://www.bmwbaurtc.nl/RegisterTC1.htm

You can send him (or me: stephan@baur-tc1.de) the picture to complete the register

greetings to Puerto Rico

Stephan :)

Thanks for the offer, Stephan! I will definitely contact you with any questions regarding my Baur. Although I have owned many BMW's over the years (mostly 2002's), this is my first Baur, so your expertise will be invaluable.

My Baur is # 72569. Jeroen from the TC Register gave me the information regarding its history. It was originally Kastanienrot, and I would like to return it to its original color.

Here is a recent picture:

Here is a picture of my current 2002:

To the pictures: Very nice!!! specialy the 2002 looks great........and......you will be right to restore the Baur in original....keep on :)

I think in Puerto Rico the TC1 is extremely rarely....almost the only one???

Thanks for the compliments, Stephan!

The TC1 is currently in the US, specifically in Atlanta. That's where I purchased it. I have a daughter living there and I am keeping it at her residence. Interestingly there are two more Baur TC1's in the Atlanta area, and both are Kastanienrot!

I am undecided whether to bring it to Puerto Rico or to keep it in Atlanta. I travel there almost on a monthly basis either for work or for family reasons and would like to use to go to events there. I go every year to the Vintage at the Vineyards event in North Carolina and to the Euro Autofest at the BMW Factory in South Carolina.

On the other hand, restoring it in Puerto Rico would be a lot less expensive. For example, I re-upholstered my 2002's interior here in the island for $500. In the US it would've cost about three times as much.

By the way, I have seen only one TC1 here in the island. It is/was a 323 in bright yellow (the color called Golf on the 2002's). There are three or four TC2's and I almost bought a white one about five years ago.

Hello Harry,

very interesting story

...and I believe the decision it's not easy, on wich place to restore the TC1.

Conside: A lot of time you need to restore. In time on my restoring after paint-job i worked almost 1000 hours (exactly today 983  ). I started in June 2007. I can't imagine to restore a car on other place of residense

greetings Stephan :)
