thankyou
but why, my engine is horrible!
it probably makes about 100hp!
im used to a 185bhp 800kg mk1 golf, and going to this is dissapointing, but still more fun in the wet.
i just did a post about what engines can go in to get more power.

im exposing the chrome on the sidestrips and round the window trims etc at the moment, someone had sprayed them black and covered them up.
ill decide if i like it after its done.
ill probably leave the grille on the front black though.

thanks :)
ill be getting some decent trumpets/ horns/ ram pipes/ blah blah etc, (everyone seems to have a different name for them) soon and will look alot better.

they are twin 40 dhla dellorto carbs.
With a facet red top fuel pump and few other bits.

They sound good, but the car is still so slow, and would love an engine change.
They are also terrible on petrol! I get about £10 to 30 miles. Which is the worst petrol car ive ever had. but oh well :)

They are still staying on.

I thought i would give it its FIRST clean since i had it.
It got dark so didnt get chance to dry it properly or wax, or do details but oh well.

Oh yeah i also got a nice package through from germany for a few bits which consisted of:
new indicators, orange bulbs, and clear lenses, chrome trim for windscreen and rear window & all bolts, (fixing kit) for my bumper, which still isnt held up right.

Heres how it looks at the moment:

Still got the chrome trims to do, around windows, and remove the black from the original chrome too.

Didn't mean to resurrect an old topic but I would like to know a few things regarding this car.

What is the main jet, idle jet, venturi/choke, air corrector size?

I have M10 2.0 running on dual dellorto 40's but it seems to have problem in the mid range. I'm thinking either its the jets or ignition/dizzy (vacuum advance is broken).

Thanks.

The guy who owns this car now posts over on Retro Rides. He did have it up for sale a couple of months ago but had no luck. (£800 I think?)

i think i remember it being up for sale on the bay, was a cheap car for what you get with it. im running twin 40's on my m10 1.8 but i think i got an air leak so i cant really get mine running correctly. gonna try and grab an injection head of rich at fritz next time im down that way, then spend some time matching up the ports to my inlet manifold so there is no step, as i think this is what is causing most of my problems

I did all that with my 2002 but it made hardly any difference. If anything I think I polished it all too much and there was nothing to get the air and fuel actually mixing. Sometimes that step can get the mixture tumbling and actually prove useful.

im not gonna bother polishing the ports as your right, rough surface is better but i think the step is so large its almost causing the air to stall or something. i cant find a leak around my manifold anywhere yet on tick over it acts like it has one, when driving it pulls really well, very odd symptoms, need an expert to come and have a little play one day really
