Hey fellas,
I recently just bought a E21 323i and have attempted to service it myself, ive done all but adjust the valves and replace the rocker cover and plugs. Ive been learning using the forums however my temp gauge when driven hard rises to an uncomfortable level. Ive boiled it down to the fact that the previous owner pretty well never drove the car and the thermostat has frozen shut? if thats correct? Anyways I was wondering if anyone has any pictures on a DIY on a thermostat swap or repair? or any links?
Cheers,
Bee

Hi Bee, your best bet is to get a haynes manual, its an easy job, make sure you flush rad and hoses out. Andy

Re: Thermostat Change
The fuel filter is inside of the right rear wheel. Together with the fuel pump.

thermostat is in the coolant housing bolted on the front corner of the cyl head. theres 3 10mm bolts holding it on where the bottom rad hose mounts to the engine. the bleed valve is also on this aluminium housing. so you need to make sure it'll undo before stripping it. then bleed it from this point, after youve fitted a new 'stat, topping up the coolant till it comes out here.
